Anesthetized with iso via mask for rad. Rad shows severe lysis of the bones around the distal joint.

Decided to amputate -since it is digit 3, he should do fine

Used blunt dissection and radiosurgcal unit to disarticular the
distal phalanx. Used ronguers to removed the distal 2/3 of the
remaining phalanx. Smoothed ends. Removed extraneous soft tissue.
Flushed, infused stump with lidocaine and closed with 3-0 vicryl.
Dressed with BNP + telfa + vetwrap + white tape.

BAR. NOLO. Bandage clean and intact. Toe swelling seems reduced but I did not take a photo before to compare to. Digit has good ROM. The wound is still open but clean.
Covered with tegaderm to keep clean but did not recover it with vetwrap.
Note: the toe looks worse in the new photo than it really looked.

Plan: observe for a few days and compare to today. I think it is resolving and I don't think antibiotics are needed but meloxicam should help

Left digit 3 is very swollen. Not knuckling under as far as we know. There is a small scab on the dorsal side of distal knuckle joint. I pulled it off and a 1 cm tail of necrotic debris came out. Almost looked like an extensor tendon but it is off to the side and the digit does not knuckle so I think it is not.

Anesthetized with iso via mask. Cleaned and flushed wound. Very painful. Had a hard time getting him down. Bled readily. Nothing more to debride. Dressed with SSD + telfa + vetwrap + duct tape. Will need to keep it dry.

Pulled blood for CBC - pending.

Did not start antibiotics as we are already treating for a fungal infection and I'd like to see how the toe looks in a few days now that the debris was removed.
