Surgery report
Procedure - Wound debridement
Performed by - des
Surgery time - 5 minutes

Flushed wound. Very clean but still a deep SQ pocket. About 3
cm.
Freshened edges and closed with 4-0 vicyl. Lots of granulation
tissue so I had to take big bites to get a good amount of normal
skin. Minimal tension. Dressed with BNP + telfa + tega. Definitely
worried about sutures holding.

BAR. Perching. Some LO's then NOLO when grabbed.
A bit stressed.
Review of rad shows that distal right humerus is very white. Lots of soft-tissue swelling.

Anesthetized with iso via mask. Aggressive debridement of wound and bone surface. Bone actually looked pretty good when done. Mostly clean. ROM is very good. Flushed and dressed with SSD + duoderm + telfa + tega + fig-8.

Leg wound just a few small scabs. Did not rebandage.

BAR, perched. Dark pellet ++

All LO(R) but they were white mice.

Anesthesized with iso via mask for rad- WNL but can see some soft tissue swelling in right elbow as expected.
Removed bandage from wing, wound is already smaller than two days ago. Scrubbed area and debrided small amounts of cheesy debris. Bone appears healthy and the tissue surrounding is nice and pink.

Rechecked wound on back that I forgot to note from Friday, its basically healed and scabbed over.

Mouth: clean

Left wing: WNL
Right humerus: fishing hook attached distally
Legs
Left leg: WNL
Right tibiotarsus: fishing hook embedded

Standing, BAR. Finder reported that he removed fishing line from the bird. I then discovered two hooks embedded in the right wing and right leg. Torb 0.12 cc IM.

Anesthetized with iso under 2% for removal. One hook was embedded on the lateral side of the TBT. This bird is well muscled so the hook was deeply embedded, but once removed this wound appeared minor. Scrubbed and applied ssd, telfa, and tega. Placed vet wrap to keep in place.

The hook in the wing took me awhile to remove. The humerus is exposed and the wounds look a few days old to me. Debrided a large amount of both cheesy and scabby debris, there was a small amount of bleeding. The tissue over the proximal ulna/radius appeared healthy once debrided. Flushed gently, scrubbed and applied duoderm, ssd, telfa, and tega. Placed figure 8 wrap.

Didnt palpate any fractures, decided to postpone rad until Sunday during wound care.
