Wound care/bandage change: Lizzy noticed that wing wrap was off when she fed. Went out to replace. Bandage was off as well. Brought BDOW back inside. Cleaned, flushed wound, placed talfa and tega over stitches and put wing wrap back on. Added extra chew tabs and duct tape to wing wrap.

Exam:
BDOW was very quiet, eyes closed tight in pain. Superficial wound over u/r on left wing as well as a few broken feathers at mid-shaft. Right wing had skin split from elbow up through mid-shaft exposing u/r. Fortunately, Dr. Dave was finishing a surgery and was able to take BDOW straight into repair wing.

Torb 0.12 ml IM

Anesthetized lightly with iso via mask. Bird was very lethargic and bradycardic at times so had to keep very light (less than 2%) and work fast.

Large laceration on the ventral/caudal side of humerus and the wing web near the elbow. Some loss of skin but wound is fresh. Humerus is exposed for about 3 cm to elbow. Flushed copiously with warm LRS and removed the feathers from the edges. Was able to close most of it with minimal tension with 4-0 vicryl. Dressed with SSD + adaptic + telfa + fig-8 wrap.
The wound is closed and underlying covered. I anticipate the suture lines breaking down as more tissue dies but at least things are covered.
