Surgery report Procedure - Fracture repair - ulna and radius Performed by - des Surgery time - 47 minutes Dorsal approach. This was a very difficult procedure. Had a hard time finding the distal ulna fragment and it was very oblique. Had to do quite a bit of dissection also to expose both ends of the radius intermediate fragment. First attempt at placing ulna IM pin failed but second attempt went nicely. Removed distal trocar tip, aligned the ends and drove distally. Stability of fx was not great due to oblique nature of fracture. Flushed wound. Ronquered of the dead tip of bone from the distal radius fragment Drove IM pin into distal radius fragment and exited at the wrist. Removed prox trocar tip. Had to thread pin thru intermediate fragment and then proximally. Good stability at this point. Flushed wound and closed skin with 4-0 vicryl. Placed cross pin in ulna prox and distal to fx. Applied BNP to suture line and pins. Covered suture line with tega. Bent pins and created sidebar with VTP after setting overall rotation. Placed figure-8 wrap. Recovery was a little slow but steady and bird did very well under ANE. Overall, the end result was good but the overall time was much longer than usual.
