Surgery report Procedure - Fracture repair - ulna and radius Performed by - des Surgery time - 33 minutes No wounds. Dorsal approach. Made incision over radius fx. Found bone ends easily. Mostly transverse. Placed IM pin from fx, flexed wrist and exited distally. Removed prox trocar tip, aligned the ends and drove proximally. Flushed wound and closed with 4-0 vicryl. Made separate incision over ulna fx.Had to dissect a little distally to find intact section of distal end as there were many small fragments. Drove IM pin from proximal ulna, removed trocar tip when it reached the fx site, aligned the ends and drove distally. Measure length of bone pins and pulled the ulna pin back a few mm's. Flushed wound and closed with 4-0 vicryl. Applied BNP to the pins and suture lines. Covered the suture lines with tega. Placed a cross pin prox and distal to the ulna fx. Set the overall rotation with the wing folded. Bent the pins and created a sidebar with VTP. Placed fig-8 wrap. Overall, the procedure went perfectly.
